Founded in 1951, the Swiss Institute for Arts is an art history and art technology research and documentation center with a main focus on art in Switzerland. The headquarters are located in Zurich, a "Antenne romande" at the University of Lausanne.
The Institute is recognized by the Swiss citizenship, which plays an instrumental role in the financial support of the Institute. Other sources include the district and the city of Zurich, as well as other districts and communities. To cover its expenses, the Institute is dependent upon donations and third parties.
The "Association for the Support of the Swiss Institute of Art", to which you can also belong, supports the Institute idealistically and financially.
